Kenya / Exuberant Rhythm

Born October 14, 1966 in Hackensack, New Jersey, Russell was diagnosed with autism at the age of 8. Upon being presented with this diagnosis, his parents were told to place him in an institution and “never look back”, but Russell’s parents did just the opposite; and 40+ years later, he has evolved into a premier artist thriving in Charlotte, NC. At the age of about 4, before he could speak, Russell’s grandmother Evelyn would sit and encourage him to draw simple objects, like flowers. Russell has an affinity for flowers adding one to his name at every opportunity he can. From his signature, birthday cards or his paintings, Russell’s flowers are always popping up and have become his infamous trademark. In addition to being an artist, Russell is a music lover. His favorite artists are Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and Elvis. Attending a local day program a few days a week sparked his creative talents, and in addition to his creative talents, Russell is active in the local Charlotte autism community.

Russell’s artwork, Exuberant Rhythm, was selected to visually represent the sensory aspect of HÆRFEST COFFEE’S Kenya- which features an aroma of black currant and chocolate, tasting notes of plum and cocoa with hints of strawberry, and has a balanced body and acidity finish.
